A Day on the Rhein ~

Our last day trip from Frankfurt was of course, to the Rhein! Such magnificent views of the Rhein, the grapes, the villages, the castles....



So many castles from which to choose. One favorite is Marksburg, of course.






The definite NO MISS for us was Burg Rheinfels! Although mostly in ruins, it was once one of the largest castles along the Rhein. We had so much fun enjoying the view of the Rhein from the top of the tower and traipsing around the grounds of the burg ~









But of course, a trip to Burg Rheinfelss would not be complete without venturing down into the labyrinth ~ the quick get-away route in case of a siege!



All in all, a fantastic day!



The drive along the Rhein almost alwaays ends up in the little town of Rudesheim, home of the Asbach-Uralt brandy ~
