Landed in Kuwait - Life in the Sandbox!

Ready to start a new adventure in a new country! Here's a peek at what Kuwait has to offer:

While my school is located in Hawaly, closer to Kuwait City, I live a bit further south, in Mahboula. Of course, we have a mosque super close so we never have to worry about oversleeping ;)

The main housing is in two tall apartment buildings, Dina & Dana, called the Dunes, but there is also an annex right next door. It's a bit smaller, but cozy. That's where I am.

I can make a home anywhere. but I have to admit, this is the first time I absolutely hated a room in my house: this kitchen - YUCKY.

However.... I LOVED my bathroom!!!!
I even had a pair of doves that nested outside my kitchen window ~

Here's a glimpse of the oil refineries - on the way to the "chateaux" of our students' families

And the big city lights!

But the main attraction in Kuwait? The Avenues Mall, of course!

I much preferred the beach!!!  Spending a day outside of the Hilton ~ heaven!

Or a day out with new friends

Even if I did lose at bowling!

Cool School Time

A Chihuly in a mall??

Al Sharefa Park

 And PINKBERRY!!!

Guess what I learned here in Kuwait?

No trophies our first year, but we kept practicing!!!!

Just call me Krazy-eye Kathy!!!

My Dollhouse

As a little girl I loved going to visit my Auntie Donna, for many reasons, but mostly because I loved her dollhouse. She has recently given me a gorgeous dollhouse - a Jim Marcus - and it's my pride and joy. Here is a peek at how I put it all together.

It started as a blank slate, and I had a vision of it being a painted lady - sage green with purple and forest accents.  I also had it wired.

    And this is the
finished house,        complete with          wallpaper and          moldings!

But, as pretty as it looks now in pictures, I wasn't entirely happy with it. So I started over to give it a more subtle look that might fit better into a home. And this time, I had some help with the repainting!

Same color scheme, just rearranged ~

Over the years, as I've traveled, I have collected a myriad of treasures to add to the interior.
