Just One More Stop.... Montenegró!

While Kelly and Christina had to head back home, Diana and I had a few more days to spare, and so despite my shoes being "done", we weren't!!  We headed across another border and wandered around a quaint town in Montenegró.

We went to this town, the name of which totally escapes me!!!!!!!!!! Yikes!!!

It was soooooooo hot!  Who knew that Europe, even this far south, could be sooooooo hot!!!!

Whew!

The architecture was so beautiful ~

 Astoria!  Here!

We then took a boat ride over to one of a pair of islands on which there was a church: The Lady of the Rocks

And with that - the Eastern European Cities Tour! came to an end.  Another wonderful adventure with the best of friends!!!!

And finally, the city we had all been waiting for.... Dubrovnik!

As an avid Game of Thrones fan (book and series!), I was very eager to finally make it to Dubrovnik.  And I have to say, the city did not disappoint - even though we chose not to take the (very expensive) GoT tour.  As "touristy" as this city is, it somehow maintains it's old world charm.  I loved it ~

Our first glimpse!

Dubrovnik is a walled city with the most unusual, white limestone, which give the city a rather "polished" look!

With these friends, we always manage to find the yummiest drinks!! And strong!!!!!

Christina, Diana, and Kelly needed those margaritas after spending so much time waiting on me to find my lovely coral and pearl necklace and earrings!!!

The say you can find love anywhere.....

One thing I loved about our time in Dubrovnik, was the kayaking!!!!!!

Walking the walls was so worth it, but whew! Hot!!

Luckily there was water to drink ~

hehehe ~  Of course, not all of our selfies turned out....!

One of the loveliest things about Dubrovnik, are the swifts that sail overhead, filling the air with their song ~

And thus ended our trip for four!

Well, after some more wine!!!

Even the weather was sad about our trip nearing its end...

But my shoes seriously can not take much more!!!

Zadar, Split, And On To Makarska!!!

As our trip continued, we drove through Zadar on our way to Markarska!  Zadar was not of particular interest - it's a stop for cruise ships..., but as with every town along the coast of Croatia, it was beautiful.

The biggest attraction for me, was the hauntingly beautiful sea organThe music is made as the water rushes in and out from under these stairs ~

We spent one afternoon checking out Split.

Huge Roman influence here, of course, and they even did some acting!

Starting to feel the effects of the heat!

Not only a Roman influence!!!

Inside the Jupiter Temple:

And then the sun sort of got to some of us -

And Christina and I thought maybe we should just have a rest and taste the local vodka tonics!

(They were yummy ~)

And then we spent a few delightful days soaking up the rays in Makarska.  It was splendid!!

And nothing is better than staying by the seaside, than having a yummy dinner and a bottle of wine by the seaside!

The view to the front and to the back of our apartment:
