I am so lucky to have friends with good ideas! On this sunny day, a few of us took a ride on a yacht for a unique view of this city in which I now live ~
I am growing to love this skyline
And there is our boat!!
Woo hoo ~ good times with good friends!
Alas, we are not the biggest boat out here....
One of the hotels on the Palm Jumeira
But the crowning glory: The Atlantis Hotel from the water:
Taking a dip!
Another yacht, and a glimpse of the Burj al Arab
Another beautiful day here in Dubai ~

Eid and Singapore!
Our second Eid break was longer than the first and so Diana, Becca, Elena, and I decided to go a little further this time ~ we headed for Singapore!
Singapore is so lovely. It's clean and tropical and has a blend of cultures that tantalized us!
For the first half of our vacation, we stayed at a beautiful hotel in the downtown area. The lobby was decorated with a gorgeously carved piece of jade (reminded me of my days in Taiwan!):
The view from our hotel restaurant seating was so pretty that first night...
Now it was time to hit the town ~ Becca is ready!
One of our first stops, and one of our favorites, was Little India:
From almost anywhere in Singapore it seems, you can spot the Singapore Lion!
We also visited a Buddhist temple. It was a little awkward looking around when others were worshiping, but we could't resist ~
Singapore is home to one of the most beautiful botanical gardens:
Another stop for us as we toured the city was Chinatown:
And near there we also caught a glimpse of a Hindu temple ~
We found an awesome spot for some drinks and laughter!
Where's Becca??
Another day we headed for the zoo. I wasn't too keen on this trip (not much of a zoo lover) but I have to say that it was a very nice place and the animals seemed healthy in their simulated natural habitats ~
Becca even got into the act!
No trip to Singapore would be complete, though, without a stop at the Raffles Hotel for a traditional Singapore Sling!
For Becca, the highlight of our tour here was the glorious Marina Bay Hotel ~ and I have to agree with her. Wow!
After enjoying the hubbub of the city, we headed out to an island for the remainder of our trip.
The hotel pool was amazing!!!! I would go back just to stay there again!!
Did Diana get lost in the jungle again????
Of course we made friends on the island ~
We did get caught in a downpour one of our last days, and ended up stuck in some bathrooms. I decided to run for it, but the other girls didn't hear me leave. Luckily I found one of our friends driving the tram and he drove it right up to the bathroom door to rescue the soaked ladies!
The highlight of this trip for me was going "surfing" on the last day. I had been practicing for days and finally thought I was ready! I had lots of tips and support from friends, and I did it!!! I drank a bit of water, but I was so proud!!!!!
